Cut your own fringe - The twist method

Many of you may have read about the latest craze of cutting your own hair at home instead of going to a hair stylist or salon. Well many people have a fringe too and maintenance can be very expensive as they tend to grow very fast. I love having a fringe but it means visiting a salon every three weeks, yes my hair grows extremely quick! In the days before I was a mother I wouldn't think twice but nowadays it would be very hard to have my fringe trimmed every three weeks so I haven't had once for a while.

Well as you may have seen in a previous post I tried to cut my own hair at home and was successful but I have major beauty disaster where I have over plucked my eyebrows and have decided to grow them out completely and re-shape them. I have heard that its can take 3 months or more and unfortunately I cannot live with two different eyebrow shapes so I decided 'hey why not get a fringe?'. Sounds good, I've had them before but this time I cannot go to the salon and would have to do it myself.

The look I was going for
So I do a search and I land on YouTube, I want a full fringe that is shorter at the front and slightly longer at the sides. I find a tutorial that demonstrates how to do just this in under five minutes and all you need is a comb, scissors and a mirror.

I must've watched it over and over until I was confident enough to do it, well it was a mistake. It took me longer than the guy in the video and the results were a little shoddy.

The technique
Well you part a triangle from the top of your head where you want your fringe to start and then gather, twist and cut straight. It is extremely hard for someone with no experience to do this, it isn't as equal as it should be so I have had to cut and cut again. Luckily I did my first snip with longer hair and then there was no going back!

I really wish I hadn't done it now because I can tell where the faults are, everyone else thinks it looks great though, lol. Anyway go to a professional or do a side wept fringe instead, its much easier!
