How to get long, healthy and thick hair fast!

I have always been blessed with thick hair naturally as my mother and grandmother both had lovely long silky hair. After the birth of my first child my hair started to fall out and look limp, so I had to find a way to get my hair back to its former glory in as little time as possible and by not spending a ridiculous amount of money.


After much research I found a few home remedies that could help hair growth and decided to test them all out (being a stay at home mum, I have the time lol) but it was the only way to see if what I was doing was working or not. I had a neighbour who used to swear on Indian hair oils that you can get in most shops or online for as little as £1 so I decided to start there.

Gooseberry Oil
I tried Amla hair Oil by Dabur, it is one of the most common hair oils used around the world as well as in India. It made my hair lovely and thick, straight and very silky. I really liked this oil, though the smell was a little off putting but it wasn't that bad compared to some others I have seen.

Indian gooseberry is an accepted hair tonic in traditional recipes for enriching hair growth and pigmentation. The fruit, cut into pieces is dried preferably in the shade. These pieces are boiled in coconut oil till the solid matter becomes charres. This darkish oil is excellent in preventing graying. The water is which dried Amla pieces are soaked overnight is also nourishing to hair and can be used for the last rinse while washing the hair.

Cactus Oil
Again by Dabur, it is supposed to be for hair loss, after just one try I did find that my hair was not falling out as much. When I have a shower I usually get clumps but this time I didn't and even when I brushed my hair there was pretty much no fallout. Though beware it is a little oilier than Gooseberry oil but good for strengthening hair.

Coconut hair Oil
This made my hair very volumous, it made my hair shiny and thick after just one try. If left in a cool area the oil will solidify so leave it in a sunny or warm place or heat it slightly in a bowl of warm water first.

Fortunately for me they all worked though some were oilier than others.

How to apply hair oil
You can apply on clean or dirty hair it doesn't really matter, what matters is how long you leave it in for. I put it on in the morning and then put a bandana on and wash my hair in the evening. If you can leave it in overnight as well its even better. If you cannot leave it in for a whole day then try for at least 3 hours minimum.

You may have to wash your hair twice if not more, remember you don't have to overload your hair with it, you should massage it into the scalp then use a little to rub over the rest of your hair. Using too much will only mean you spend longer in the shower washing it out!
