Nuby Review

If you have a bottle fed baby then you will no doubt have been told by your health visitor or health professional that once baby turns one its time to switch to a cup. Well when my daughter turned one we introduced a cup by Tommee Tippee but she refused, we tried three different types of spouts but she still refused. I thought maybe she wasn't ready and didn't force her.

When she was around 14 months I decided to try again but this time with a Nuby non-spill cup, she didn't like it at first but then she drank from it without causing a fuss and has done so ever since. I bought the once that is a 4-in-1 cup as I believed it would be better in the long run. As you can see it doesn't have a lid but as she only drinks milk first thing in the morning and just before bed I didn't think it was that necessary.

The handles are removeable which is great as my daughter hated them but it doesn't have any measurement indicators on the side which is a little silly but the capacity is 295ml (10 ounces). My daughter has only been using it for 6 months now and it leaks a lot so I might need to buy a new spout. But since I've bought it I have always noticed that it leaks a little from the spout though its not supposed too. Overall I don't like it I find it very awkward and since you can't measure how much milk goes in I have to carry another container, also it has no spout cover making it prone to bacteria.

At the same time I also bought a Flip it Beaker that has a silicone straw, again non-spill. My daughter started drinking with a straw at around 6 months so she took to the cup very quickly but I find that it has always leaked a little. Six months later and it constantly leaks as the bit that makes a valve inside the straw has completely broken!
There is a little toggle at the top so that the straw is covered when not in use but the straw always gets stuck plus the top part comes off easily and then the straw is no longer covered, you get what you pay for it only cost £4 but doesn't last very long.

Overall I am very disappointed with Nuby they don't last very long, I used Tommee Tippee before and never had any problems, they last much longer. I wouldn't really recommend the so called non-spill range they really are far from that.
