Homebase recently stated that they have noticed a trend in the sale of red tester pots, they have come to the conclusion that women are now painting the soles of their shoes red in order to 'fake Louboutins'. I can understand how some women may feel desperate to do this but I also feel that designer shoes such as Louboutins have lost their class. I remember the days when only smart dressed people who had money could afford these shoes, now chavs have ruined these shoes. They have become too common and its funny because most people who have a pair cannot afford them so buy them using credit cards they cannot pay off, its sad people feel they need to go into debt to look good.
DIY Louboutins - make your own pair at home
If you are really set on having a pair but cannot afford it then yes in theory you can 'fake' Louboutins, as long as you intend to wear them yourself and not sell them you cannot be sued. Christian Louboutin has tried to sue people in the past and is currently suing YSL for making a similar pair with red soles, the case is still pending.
You will need:
A shoe similar to a pair of Louboutins that you like (and want to fake)
Red paint, preferably high gloss
Clear gloss
Masking tape
A few small paint brushes of different sizes
Newspaper
- Lay down the newspaper
- Take the shoes and use masking tape to protect the upper part leaving the sole exposed
- Using the larger brush you have work your way inside out, start painting the red paint or gloss on the inner part of the sole and use a smaller brush to paint around the edge of the sole
- You may need more than one coat if you are using normal paint, high gloss paint should be fine using one coat
- If you use normal paint do two coats, then coat with a clear gloss
- When you pain the sole don't forget to also paint the underside of the heel too!
Now if you don't have them time to do all this faffing around then try Zara they started doing shoes with a red heel, also there are other unbranded shoes out there that look like Louboutins because of the red sole but they are not the real thing, this is the cheaper option!
And if you didn't have enough to keep on top of, Louboutins have launched a limited range of shoes with a blue sole for brides-to-be (something blue) I wonder if blue will start off a new trend?
