Upcycling your old clothes into something new

So we've all heard of recycling right, so how about upcycling? For those of you that don't know it's just re-using things that you have and turning them into something even better or useful. For example turn dresses into skirts or tops, turn your old curtains into a bed spread, turn wine bottles into art deco or a vase for flowers. The list is endless but unlike recycling you just re-fashion it into something else rather than letting it compost or decompose.
My two year old has had a growth spurt recently and all of a sudden all her new clothes are getting really short on her. I know kids grow up quick but it can get a little expensive having to buy clothes on a monthly basis. Looking at all her clothes 90% of them are in excellent condition and it's such a shame she can't wear it again. So then I realised why can't she wear her clothes again?

Upcycling children clothes ideas

• Here are a few ideas of what you can turn your little girls clothes into:
• Turn a dress into a t-shirt
• Make the dress into a skirt
• Cut off the legs and arms of long sleeved winter pyjamas and make them into short sleeved PJ's
• Cut the legs of leggings and make them into shorts
• Add a ruffle hem to short trousers or jeans to get more wear out of them
• Turn babygro's into t-shirts

Those were just a few ideas of what you can do to upcycle children clothing but the possibilities are endless.

The same goes for adult clothing, when you get bored of an item of clothing but the fabric is still good, don't throw it away re-fashion it into something better. Make your dresses into skirts or trousers, turn old jeans into a skirt, cut the bottom off a dress and make a top.

You can also apply this method to anything such as using old kitchen cabinets to make individual storage cabinets, use the wood from old furnitture to make a chair or bench,
